Nominator's project description

Professor Mancosu is one of the leading scholars in the philosophy and history of mathematics. He has contributed fundamentally to the philosophical study of explanation in mathematics, the philosophy of mathematical practice and to the investigation of abstraction principles and their role for infinity assumptions in mathematics. During his stay in Germany, he continues his research on abstraction to probability theory and to theories of non-standard probability.
